Exclusive advertising leading to success

Andrew Kolenda of the Victoria Medical Practice in London first used Independent Nurse to recruit in March 2006. He came to us again in July 2007, to advertise for several practice nurse vacancies. He chose a 13x4, a half page, advert to promote his vacancies and was online for 4 weeks. His advert was viewed over 500 times online and received 16 applications, 8 of which came direct from the website, Andrew was so pleased with his response he used us again in October 2007 and January 2008.

Andrew says: "I chose to use to Independent Nurse because I had previously used them and got a good response and also the online aspect of the package was very attractive. This was the only publication I used and I was overwhelmed by the response I received. I now have several applicants to interview and I am very certain we will be recruiting. I would definitely feel confident in recommending and using Independent Nurse’s excellent service again!"

Online advertising enhanced the print listing

Helen Fender, Practice Manager of Amman Valley Practice in Wales needed to fill two GP positions; one was to replace a GP in her surgery that was retiring and another for maternity cover. Helen chose a 6x2 advert for 3 weeks in print and 10 weeks online. Helen received 28 applications in total, 9 via the website.

Helen says: "We decided to use GP newspaper to fill our vacancy for a slaried GP. The package offered included print and online. We had a very good response, and the calibre was high; a lot of that response came from GP newspaper's website jobs.healthcarerepublic.com. The service we got from the recruitment team was excellent. We would highly recommend GP newspaper to others surgeries, and we would definitely uses GP newspaper in the future"

High calibre response

Mary Parker, practice manager from Old Mill and Millgates Medical Practice in Norfolk, booked in a 12x2 advert for a part-time nurse practitioner role at the end of January. Mary's advert appeared in two issues of Independent Nurse as well as on jobs.healthcarerepublic.com, the jobs section of Healthcare Republic. Mary added to her package by opting for "Job of the Week". This meant her advert had a prominent place on the website, allowing for increased exposure. Mary felt the applicants were strong and took three forward to interview.

Mary says: "We decided to use Independent Nurse for our nurse practitioner vacancy because we had used the magazine before. The response we got had a very high calibre and we are very pleased. We received a very good service and would defiantly use Independent Nurse for any future vacancies we have. Also we would recommend other surgeries to do the same."

Greater reach with print and online

Steve Gowing, Practice Manager from Avenue Medical Centre in Berkshire, rang in to the GP newspaper recruitment team back in January and placed an advert for a salaried GP. Steve chose a 12x2 advert to appear in 4 issues of GP newspaper, using the “buy two issues, get two issues free” offer. Steve made full use of the 10 weeks online, which is also included in the recruitment package. Steve had a great response and short-listed 6 to take forward to interview.

Steve says: "We decided to use GP newspaper, to fill our vacancy for a salaried GP, because we used the publication before with success. Also we liked the package offered, which includes the print and online, because we felt it reached a wide audience. The vacancy was open for 10 weeks on jobs.healthcarerepublic.com which gave all registrars and experienced GPs a chance to apply and enough time for us to find the right candidate. We had a very good response, and the calibre was high. The service we got from GP newspaper was professional and very helpful. Our surgery will use GP newspaper again in the future, and we would recommend other surgeries to do the same."
